Giving Back to Our Communities: Celebrating International Day of Charity

By John F. Correia

UG2 is Proud to Support Our Local Communities Across the Nation

The International Day of Charity was created to promote volunteer and philanthropic activities around the world. At UG2, we can proudly say that our teams have always been active and engaged in addressing our communities’ needs, in myriad ways and for different causes, all throughout the year.

The core values that guide UG2 call on us to be good citizens and to operate from a place of empathy and emotional intelligence. They also command us to go above and beyond, a value our teams demonstrate in their professional work and relationships as well as in their charitable giving and volunteering. Still, our teams’ empathy and willingness to act continually astounds us, even as UG2 was built on a foundation of community responsibility.

Our commitment to supporting and strengthening the communities where we live, and work extends from our leadership team on down. Our Vice President of Culture & Community, Lauren Lanzillo, is tasked with spearheading philanthropic initiatives, but ideas and suggestions for charitable giving come to us from every level of the organization including every team and office across the country.

Of course, UG2 is a company of unsung heroes, so it makes sense that there are many, many acts of charitable giving our teams take on that fly under the radar. There are times we only learn about a team’s incredible generosity when our customer brings it to our attention!

We are delighted to support the organizations and causes that our employees are personally passionate about. For example, when Regional Engineering Manager, Matt Montanez shared information about the launch of the Annual Montanez Golf Invitational in support of the National Kidney Foundation, we were thrilled to participate as a platinum sponsor. The annual event raises over $10,000 each year to help fight kidney disease.

Supporting English as a second language programs is another cause that resonates across the company, with our Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration George Keches being a prominent supporter of the organization English for New Bostonians. Other organizations that have benefitted from our employees’ compassion and generosity include Feeding America, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the American Cancer Society and others. At any given time, individual UG2 employees and teams perform countless acts of charity and volunteerism quietly, behind the scenes – going above and beyond in demonstrating their commitment to strong, healthy, vibrant communities.
