World FM Day Celebrates Resilience in Action

By Paul Savarino

We Honor the Facility Managers Powering Our Industry — and Our Company

Facility services affects you throughout the day in ways that are invisible but critical. Maybe you’re attending a medical appointment, enjoying a concert or playoff game, or stopping by a friend’s apartment. You could be running an errand at the mall, or simply ordering a product safely manufactured at one of our customers’ locations. You likely aren’t thinking about the locations where these everyday activities play out, and all that goes into them to keep them operating safely and effectively—but we are.

Each year, World FM Day asks us to consider the impressive impact of those working in facilities management to ensure safety and comfort in the spaces where we live and work. This year’s World FM Day theme captures where UG2 excels.

Here’s how our teams embody Resilience in Action: Thriving in a World of Change.

Keeping facilities healthy, safe and productive. Our people are deeply familiar with the systems and strategies that work to keep buildings operating optimally, like following a schedule of daily inspections, prioritizing preventative maintenance, conducting air quality assessments and providing access to emergency maintenance. We maintain safe, healthy environments that operate to our customers’ exact specifications by developing an institutional knowledge of every facility they touch.

We take a rigorous and comprehensive approach to safety that utilizes leading and lagging safety indicators, incorporates hazard mitigation into every interaction, recognizes and rewards safe behaviors, and includes leader audits, self-inspections, risk and hazard assessments, permit to work audits, and JSAs. Our high safety ratings are the envy of our competitors and a reason our customers stay with us for the long term.

Serving as leaders and mentors. Our employees are extraordinarily generous with their insights and experience whether they are forming formal and informal mentoring relationships or sharing knowledge through our Training & Innovation Lab.

They fully support their peers and coworkers and are instrumental in UG2’s efforts to develop the next generation of facility services leaders. They embrace opportunities for cross-training, excel at operating from a team approach, stay attentive to one another’s needs and challenges, and step in to provide seamless support when an issue arises.

Acting as stewards of sustainability who consider our customers’ bottom line. UG2 leads the way in combining forward-looking problem solving with an emphasis on sustainability, efficiencies and cost savings. Our commitment to environmental stewardship underpins every aspect of our services, from our collaborative approach to identifying customers’ goals to the equipment and products we utilize in their spaces.

UG2’s place as an industry leader in environmental stewardship is something our employees take particular pride in. They work in myriad of ways to advance sustainability, incorporating green products, requesting and offering training opportunities, and promoting ideas for efficiency within the organization and with our customers.

Ensuring a bright future for facility services. Our employees’ impact on the industry is apparent in the ways they showcase UG2’s core values. Day in and day out, they are living examples of the guiding principles UG2 was founded upon, such as thinking outside the box, acting as an extension of our customer’s team, and being a citizen of our industry and our customers’ industries.

When it comes to connecting with people, solving problems, and building true partnerships, there’s simply no team more talented than team UG2. Our people live and breathe the details, innovations and preventative practices that keep our country running, and we could not be prouder of them.
