UG2 Proudly Acknowledges the Next Generation of Talent
At UG2, we take every opportunity to applaud our apprentices. We are thrilled to acknowledge those bright and committed professionals, and we are grateful to them and to the numerous individuals who help make our apprenticeship program such an extraordinary success.
The timing is fitting as we mark National Apprenticeship Day on April 30, 2025. (National Apprenticeship Week has, for 10 years, shone a light on apprenticeship’s contributions to our industry. Based on feedback from partners and stakeholders, the planners behind this endeavor have decided to move the celebration from fall to spring and, to ease the transition, they compressed this year’s celebration into a single day.)
Creating a Crucial Pipeline
Apprenticeships are essential for creating a pipeline of much-needed talent in the trades, and UG2’s founders had the foresight to prioritize recruiting, training, and supporting the skilled tradespeople our industry and economy depend on. Our apprentices are mentored and monitored by some of the most talented industry professionals and O&M leaders out there, and the return on investment is huge. Participating students gain exposure to different environments along with a wealth of knowledge from their more experienced peers, which adds to their education, visibility, and technical efficiency.
Our approach involves building connections at all levels. UG2 partners with schools in the communities where we live and work to build awareness about the apprenticeship process. We strive to ensure that students are aware of opportunities and have the support to explore different career paths with a stable employment future. We work with institutions like Massachusetts Maritime Academy, California Maritime, and Le Moyne College to raise awareness about careers in facility services and extend apprenticeship and internship opportunities.
We take a deliberate and thoughtful approach to mentoring—cultivating a culture where employees actively embrace opportunities to both mentor and be mentored, creating space to share knowledge, gain insights, and foster continuous growth across our teams. Within our growing company, we prioritize promoting from within and supporting advancement among our incredibly diverse workforce.
