Celebrating International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month 2025
The important contributions of facility services workers are too often overlooked — and even, at times, invisible. Fortunately, various celebrations throughout the year offer us a chance to shift that narrative, and we are thrilled to again embrace International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month as an opportunity to call out the women who continue to move UG2 forward.
Our 2025 theme, “Women of UG2 — Leading the Way,” captures the impact of the mentors, leaders and innovators who drive UG2’s success, on the front lines and in our regional offices. Every hour of every day, there are women working tirelessly to improve all that we do. Throughout March, we are sharing some of their insights and accomplishments across our social media platforms. You’ll get glimpses of their critical efforts as they manage building inspection processes, improve operational efficiency, train employees on workplace violence prevention, implement practices to support our overnight shift workers, and more.
Historically, in the US and around the world, facility services is a male-dominated field with women making up less than 24 percent of the facility management workforce and only 15 percent of senior-level positions, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But we know that the impact women have on the industry is outsized, because we witness it firsthand.
We are proud to have women leading the way at every level, and we are intentional when it comes to providing opportunities for success. We cultivate leadership throughout the year by sponsoring employees’ attendance at events like the Conference for Women, supporting organizations like the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network, targeting professional development opportunities and participating in the CORENET Leadership Program.
Of course, the personal is just as important as the programmatic, and that is why some of the more memorable observations you’ll see this month are in the form of quotes and encouragement that come directly from the women of UG2 themselves:
Never downplay your accomplishments.
Have great work ethics.
Develop unique skill sets.
Believe in your abilities.
As a people-first company, we take these words of advice to heart. We believe in the abilities of our women leaders, and we strive to never downplay your accomplishments. Thank you for going above in beyond in all that you do!
